ABOUT ME

Picture
Hi, My name is Shaela Mauger. I grew up in Wagga Wagga NSW and now live in the beautiful country town of Coolamon. I am the mother of two beautiful children and the proud owner of Harpermartin. The name Harpermartin comes from my Mum's maiden name Harper and my maiden name Martin.

When I was five my Dad died of a brain tumour. I am not the only one that has walked this journey though, there are so many children out there today who have had a parent die.

I was so lucky to be bought up in such a beautiful family which I cherish dearly. By sharing my story I hope to help others on their journey. The My Life Story, Cherish A Book About Us and Missing You journals were all created in memory of My Dad. These are journals that I wished I had when I was a child. I would have loved my Dad to fill in his life story for me to look back on. The Missing You journal provides a space to keep all those precious memories and journal feelings of love and loss.

A lot of people ask if I have had a baby die due to creating the beautiful Remembering Me series. No, I am so lucky to have two beautiful children but having a baby die was one of my greatest fears when I was pregnant. The Remembering Me series was created with the help of so many beautiful families who shared their story of loss so that these journals could be created. When I realised there was no baby book for a baby that has died I felt I needed to create one.

My dream for the future:

That every parent will write down their life story for their children.

That death is not such a taboo topic. It has been 32 years since my Dad died but I still find some people are uncomfortable to mention his name. Imagine a world where we could talk at ease about our loved one who had died. Yes, it is sad but it is also beautiful to talk about the one you love.
